About The PCN

The Wood Buffalo PCN was established by Fort McMurray’s family physicians in 2006 to increase access to primary care for local residents.

Every family physician in Fort McMurray is a member of the Wood Buffalo PCN. The PCN maintains a Central Clinic team comprised of allied health professionals and administrative staff that help to support quality improvement efforts in local family practice clinics and deliver comprehensive chronic disease management and preventative care programs.

Position Summary

The Wood Buffalo Primary Care Network is looking for a 1.0 FTE (permanent)  Accounting Administrator. This is an autonomous job position that requires an individual who takes initiative and is proactive in managing the finances. The successful candidate must be organized and focused in a fast paced, evolving environment.

What You Will Do
  • Provide accounting support to the ED for the WB PCN
  • Prepare bank deposits, journal entry postings and statements
  • Reconcile bank accounts within 1 week of month end
  • Daily entry of vendor invoices in Sage 50
  • Reconcile grant funding reports on a monthly basis
  • Provide timely assistance and support to the ED
  • Provide support and document accounting processing and procedures
  • Inform management and compile monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports/summaries on activity areas
  • Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all operating and investment accounts
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, expense reports, and other disbursements as required and ensures these transactions are recorded in accordance with CGAAP for health care/not for profit organizations
  • Coordinates and prepares accounts receivable and ensures accurate and timely management of billings, application of cash receipts, and other receivables as required
  • Reconciles grant funding to expenses incurred and provides Program Reports on monthly basis
What You Need To Succeed
  • 5 years related financial, or accounting experience required, preferably in a health care or non-profit environment
  • Can be working towards CPA designation or recently designated
  • Expert knowledge of Sage 50
  • Receive, act on, or re-direct confidential correspondence, inquiries, and issues
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing, in person, on the telephone, and electronically
  • Accounting designation, or pursuit of, is a desirable requirement (e.g., CPA)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Accounting) is a desirable requirement, or equivalency in experience
  • Advanced Excel knowledge and skills required
