To access this program, you need a referral from a family physician. If you do not have a local family physician, visit Alberta Find A Doctor to search physicians accepting new patients.

While our Weight Management clinicians can explain different types of weight loss surgery, we do not refer or arrange these procedures at the WB PCN. If you are considering bariatric surgery, please talk to your physician. To pursue this treatment option further, you will need to be referred to a bariatric clinic in Edmonton.

Our Weight Management team frequently provides follow-up support for patients who have had bariatric surgery completed, regardless of whether the procedure was completed in Canada or internationally. We can help you to manage your food intake, and help to guard against nutrient deficiencies and other issues which are sometimes seen following bariatric surgery.

If you received bariatric surgery in Alberta you may be referred directly to the WB PCN for follow-up care by your local family physician.

If you received bariatric surgery outside of Alberta and are experiencing complications:

• Prior to accessing WB PCN services, your physician must refer you to the Edmonton Adult Bariatric Surgery Revision Clinic to be assessed and cleared.
